Optus is the first Australian Internet Service Provider (ISP) to offer security as a service. Under the name Optus Internet Security Suite, the security solution shields broadband customers from viruses, spyware, outside attacks, and harmful content.
F-Secure hosts and manages the Security-as-a-Service platform. Optus customers who subscribe to the service will have a very seamless and automated protection.
Mark Mulder, General Manager, Content and Portals, Optus Consumer, says, "Optus is pleased to be partnering with F-Secure to offer Optus Internet Security Suite to its customers. The partnership enables Optus to provide a broadband connection that is safe and secure from viruses, hackers and other Internet nasties. We are offering this service until May 2008 free to all Optus Broadband customers for the first twelve months."
"Security-as-a-Service allows ISPs to strengthen customer loyalty, attract new customers and generate new revenue streams from consumer security services such as parental control and spam filtering," Jari Heinonen, Vice President, F-Secure APAC, says. "We are happy to see major players like Optus take security very seriously", he continued.
F-Secure is the clear leader in offering the Security-as-a-Service concept through ISPs. The ISP partners that F-Secure works with cover 25 per cent of all the broadband subscribers in Europe and North America. F-Secure’s Security-as-a-Service partners include major European ISPs such as France Telecom, Deutsche Telecom, TeliaSonera in the Nordic area, PCCW in Hong-Kong, VSNL and Reliance Communications In India, and Charter Communications in Canada.
