You may not know it, but a "black box" in your car may be keeping track of things such as whether you're wearing your seatbelt and how fast you're going. CNET News.com's Joris Evers and CNET.com's Robert Vamosi ask some privacy questions and ponder what the data is used for.

Then, it took Apple less than two weeks to patch a QuickTime zero-day flaw. The vulnerability was used in a hack-a-Mac contest to breach a MacBook.

Microsoft, meanwhile, has several zero-day flaws it has yet to fix. Seven Microsoft security bulletins are scheduled for next week's Patch Tuesday, including fixes for Windows and Office. One of the patches is slated to repair a vulnerability in the Windows domain name system, or DNS, that is being exploited in cyberattacks.

On the Web, Google is monitoring its AdWords paid links to prevent miscreants from placing links to sites that attempt to install malicious software. Security experts have warned of paid links that advertised seemingly legitimate Web sites but actually tried to install nefarious programs on PCs.
